As I was a mom with one child with me, and other babies in the cradle, I was working 12 hour shifts cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! The house was getting closer to being done, yet it was still a long way off. The project would require a lot of money effort and shopping my favorite to furnish this home. In order to keep my budget sound, I travelled with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. The weekly ritual was that we would go through estate and garage sales on Fridays and Saturdays and purchase a variety of antique and brand new furniture. My next task was to spend my weekdays painting and sanding on our front lawn. It was a bit like this... That's the time my love of restoration of furniture started. After our home was fully furnished, I still couldn't give up! There was a place at the local markets in which I sold my pieces. In the end, I was stuffed with too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. I held open houses at my residence where 1 thousand people would visit over a weekend, and they could purchase anything on the first floor. My venture Growing Days began here. When my business grew and so did our small family. It was a balance between the start of a company and becoming a mother. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora came into our lives in 2013 and became our fourth baby. Although I was happy with the direction that my business was taking, I realized that I was in need of some time off. I decided to take a break from making vintage furniture, and also slowed my pace in order to stay at home and help my children. It was exactly what I was looking for at the moment. But after a couple of months without a phone, it began to ring. People were calling me and asking for help with decorating their homes and interior renovations. It was mostly those who visited my home to purchase furniture. Then I slowly took on more clients, according to my own pace. Then I was able to have many clients, and had as a home improvement business. It is likely that I would have been laughing if somebody had informed me that my company was to become the premise of an upcoming tv program on DIY Network. As I reflect at it, it has made me smile.
